Jashunga (Ragham: jśuṅ jaśuṅa /dʑaˈɕuŋa/) is the namunian variant of the nanai game juhsung. It is an abstract strategy board game styled after a battle between two armies.
Rules
Pieces
General
The general (sxyhrxT syahartha) is the royal piece of jashunga. It moves one tile in any direction. Once it has been captured or humbled (checkmated), the game ends.
Minister
The minister (DnrxT dhanartha) is unchanged from its version in jushung. It may move one tile orthogonally or leap (over pieces) two tiles diagonally.
Servant and Advisor
The servant (bxrDrxT bradhartha), derived from the jushung servant, may move one tile orthogonally or one tile diagonally forwards. Once reaching the first rank of the opponent, it may be flipped over and promoted to the advisor (BnrxT bhanartha). This piece moves one tile in every direction. In a traditional set, this piece is symmetrical, and has a red dot on the top face of the promoted side.
Archer
The archer (srxṭrxT sarṭartha) moves exactly like its jushung analogue, that is, diagonally up to two tiles. Given their movement, both archers are bound to tiles with the same colour as the ones they start in.
Chariot
The chariot (rnxti ranti) is, like the archer, unchanged. It moves orthogonally up to two tiles.
Soldier and Great Soldier
The soldier (taumN taumą) is also unchanged from its jushung analogue. It moves one tile forward, and once it leaves its starting position, it can capture one tile along its same rank. Once it reaches the opponent's first rank, it may be flipped, becoming the great soldier (JutaumN jhutaumą), which moves like the minister.
