The LGS is a family of similarly organised social gender systems endemic to the cultures of Luhan and nearby areas. These genders are thought to be intrinsically connected to personality types and social roles. The numbers of these vary. The most widespread, the Yurenic subsystem, has 5: male, demimale, priestly, demifemale and female.
Yurenic subsystem
Male
Males are exclusively AMAB. They’re expected to be strong and sturdy, and thus normally work jobs involving manual labour. They are on the same social scale as females, and the rest of the genders are to be subservient to them.
Demimale
Demimales are AMAB in their majority, but AFAB people can also fit in this gender. They are expected to be meeker than males, but still work lesser manual jobs. They are on the same social scale as demifemales, and they are to be subservient to the rest of the genders.
Priestly
The priestly gender varies greatly between cultures, but it’s an important staple of the religion of the area, TBD. On the social scale, they sit between the extremes and the demi- genders. They are subservient to males and females, but demimales and demifemales are to be subservient to them.
This gender is, as expected, related to priests and priesthood, and one can only fit within it if one’s truly devoted to the religion or if designated by another priest. Sex is commonly forbidden for these people.
It is a common occurrence for both AFAB and AMAB people to experience some form of genital mutilation if they’re designated as this gender.
Demifemale
Demifemales are AFAB in their majority, but AMAB people can also fit in this gender. They are expected to be meeker than females, but still work in jobs involving writing and science, and also divination and magic. They are on the same social scale as demimales, and are to be subservient to the rest of the genders.
Female
Females are exclusively AFAB. They are expected to be resilient and intelligent, and thus normally work jobs involving literature and science. They are on the same social scale as males, and the rest of the genders are to be subservient to them.
