The known universe contains various planets which have harboured life. Some of these have been taken over by one or a couple of (native) species which have evolved sapience. These species, varied as they may be, are all classified as sophonts. This list contains all known sophonts to date (PKC 1723).

Elmiforms are sophonts that have the general body structure of elmians–that is, bipedal, with an upright posture, two legs, two arms and a distinct head and facial structure.
