A cest (cst /kest/, Phyrean for "shield") is a heraldic representation of a person or entity as a design on a shield. In its most basal form, cest refers to the design of the shield itself, but in common parlance it has come to represent artistic representations of such shields, often amplified in ways impossible or difficult to recreate in physical form.
