Almendra is the first planet from ρ Leo Albus A, a star within VS Leo Albus in a binary configuration with the more distant ρ Leo Albus B. It is a slightly hyperoxygenated HI3 planet colonised in 2al PE, containing a population of mostly elmians and juleans, along with sizeable urm and zhebenki populations, among others. Like the inhabitants of Badalamenti before it, those born in Almendra differ in some ways to inhabitants of their respective homeworlds.
Name
The planet is named after one of argentine (a nation of Earth) musician Luis Alberto Spinetta's musical projects, both the name of a band and an album. Both its moons, Paper-Eyed-Maiden and Barefoot-She-Walks, are also named after two of Spinetta's songs, Muchacha (Ojos de papel) and Descalza camina. The first settlement on Barefoot-She-Walks, Magical Fish, is named after the first two words of Descalza camina. Its motto "Those who speak of lands walk barefoot" is also a reference to the song.
